We are all aware that every planet in the solar system has some sort of astrological impact on us. Every planet stands for a distinct area of our lives, a distinct mood, and a distinct energy. They have control over many aspects of our mind, as well as the needs and desires that shape who we are as people.

As important as knowing your horoscope is understanding your planets and how they affect different aspects of your life. Because they’re all about different facets of our lives. The meanings of the planets in a person’s horoscope will determine whether a weak planet will necessarily produce negative consequences or whether a powerful planet will always ensure positive outcomes.

Only seven planets—the Sun, Moon, Jupiter, Venus, Mars, Mercury, and Saturn—are regarded as genuine planets in Vedic astrology. The shadow planets are known as Rahu and Ketu. The significance of each of these nine planets in Vedic astrology, along with their functions and significance, will now be discussed.

SUN (Surya):

The Sun is the most potent and imposing planet in the solar system and serves as its head. In Vedic astrology, the planet sun represents status, dominance, and power. It controls your willpower, ego, and feeling of self. The Leo zodiac sign is ruled by the sun.

This planet’s energy type is masculine, therefore it is governed by one’s father, husband, authority figures, and other significant male influences.

The completeness of youth or adulthood is symbolized by the golden brilliance of the Sun. The native is typically generous and kind like a monarch. Health, prosperity, power, ambition, and the capacity to manage challenges are some traits that the planet Sun bestows.

MOON (Chandra):

Moon is the king of Emotions because it is the most significant planet in a person’s horoscope and helps define who they are. It controls a person’s emotions and senses.

The Moon is Cancer’s governing planet. It is the cool and damp planet, considered a feminine planet in astrology, and symbolizes motherhood, childbirth, and kingship. The moon’s colour, which is white, stands for the native people’s innocence, peace, and purity. People who are strongly influenced by the moon are typically very sensitive and emotional. The moon that is impacted might lead to issues with breathing, diabetes, the appendix, and other organs.

MARS (Mangal):

The planet of aggression is associated with the colour red and things like blood, heat, swords (because Mars is the god of war, after all), land, challenges, and strengths, as well as police stations, military battlegrounds, cannabis, cocaine, and so forth. Aggression and volatility are easy to fall into, but if correctly controlled, this sign may be the greatest source of bravery, freedom, and self-empowerment. It is the governing planet of both Scorpio and Aries.

You are all about action if Mars is stationary when you were born. Your primary concern is pursuing your goals. However, if Mars is in retrograde when you are born, you focus your energies inward and probably steer clear of conflict.

A Mars that is afflicted can cause issues such as wounds, eye pain, mental illnesses, itching, blood clotting, female genital ailments, weak bones, etc.

MERCURY (Budha):

One of the most potent planets is Mercury. It is the symbol for communication and is primarily focused on your mind. Mercury prefers the air signs (Libra, Aquarius, and Gemini), which allows for logical and analytical thought. Mercury is tangible, practical, and grounded in the Earth signs (Capricorn, Taurus, and Virgo), while Mercury in the Fire signs (Aries, Leo, and Sagittarius) gives the mind and body a quickness and instinct, and Mercury in the Water signs (Cancer, Scorpio, and Pisces) gives the mind intuition and an emotional filter.

Education, knowledge, communication, the colour green, places of higher learning, a preference for the north, self-control, commitment, a child, an uncle who is maternal, etc. are some of the planet’s significant symbols. According to observations, when Mercury is strong, these significations will turn out well, and when Mercury is weak, the opposite will occur.

SATURN (Shani):

According to mythology, Shani is Yama’s older brother. Because black and blue are its hues, it has the power to end life as well as grant a long life if its placement in the horoscope is favourable. Saturn is a life-depleting, arid planet. It stands for decline.

Saturn’s influence requires a person to put forth a lot of effort in order to succeed. Saturn is a metaphor for those in the working class who toil hard but make only a meagre living. Saturn is a planet of justice; it is comparable to a teacher who gives praise for good deeds and punishment for bad ones. It cannot tolerate disorder and adheres to rigorous rules.

Legs, muscles, joint bones, teeth, skin, hair, knees, etc. are all under the dominion of Saturn. Complications in these elements may result from a problematic Saturn in the horoscope.

JUPITER (Vrahaspati):

Pisces and Sagittarius are two signs of the zodiac that are under the control of Jupiter, also known as Vrahaspati/Guru. It denotes luck, teachers, cows, elder brothers, elder brothers’ health, yellow colour, spirituality, power, position, authority, holy water, temples, etc. The aforementioned meanings benefit from a strong Jupiter, whilst a weak Jupiter indicates a lack of them.

Jupiter is responsible for the thighs, liver, brain, kidneys, fat, ear, and tongue. A weakened Jupiter might result in health issues with the ears, kidney, liver, diabetes, or even the native’s memory. A good Jupiter, however, can make the native a good teacher, social worker, priest, treasurer, and the native is frequently the head of spiritual groups.

VENUS (Shukra):

Venus is known for its brilliant, glitzy objects, excellent vision, beauty, love, parties, romance, sex, music, and dancing. It is the most important indicator of ladies, money, marriage, nice clothes, pearls, wives, Brahmans, silver, enjoyment, etc. Strong Venus produces excellent outcomes in the aforementioned significations. Venus is a planet that rules attraction to the physical world, civic behaviour, and a propensity for failing in relationships and marriage if it is strong in a person’s chart.

Venus is in charge of the bladder, genitalia, eyes, chin, neck, and nose. During Venus’s Dasha or Antar Dasha, the locals would have to endure the related illnesses.

Shadow Planet- RAHU (Lunar North Node):

Rahu, according to Vedic astrology, is a shadow planet. Due to its lack of a physical form, it stands in for all virtual objects. Rahu, however, is still the most potent and has been given a planet’s location. It primarily has negative effects. This planet represents lethargy, obstacles, and delays.

However, there is also a positive side to it. Rahu exudes courage, confidence, and fearlessness. Politicians benefit from this planet’s good power and opportunity to advance in their careers because of it. Additionally, it has the ability to make someone affluent and well-liked.

Rahu that is troubled might cause issues like stuttering, irritation, depression, stress, infections, mental illnesses, etc. Rahu even contributes to cancer.

Shadow Planet- KETU (Lunar South Node):

As an unseen point in the cosmic configuration, Ketu is also a shadow planet. It liberates people from materialistic wants and encourages spiritualism and enlightenment. It symbolises the demon’s tail.

Ketu spends about 1.5 years in each sign throughout its 18-year journey through the zodiac. People born under the signs of Aries, Cancer, Sagittarius, Scorpio, and Pisces typically benefit from its influence.

The stomach and claws are under Ketu’s authority. Stomach ache, bodily weakness, and mental health issues might result from a disturbed Ketu, which also causes issues with the lungs, intestines, etc. Additionally, Ketu brings on enigmatic ailments with untraceable reasons. However, the Cat’s eye (Lehsunia) gemstone would be most advantageous for removing Ketu’s negative effects.
